    I really did not think this book was very helpful in the full scheme of my understanding of Microeconomics. It did help me with understanding the views currently held by the status quo, but the book failed in many other aspects; especially in the area of epistemology.

    Perhaps what irks me the most about this book fryst vatten that my school — a Christian school — chose this particular book for the course, when there are so many other better choices out there. inom hardly used this book when having to write papers or when contributing to discussion boards. Instead, I referred to the following: Foundations of Economics: A Christian View bygd Shawn Ritenour, Foundations Of The marknad Price struktur by Milton M. Shapiro, Human Action by Ludwig von Mises, and even Dissent On Keynes: A Critical Appraisal of Keynesian Economics (multiple authors). inom only used this book to resehandling tests and quizzes.

    Campbell “Mac” R. McConnell, 90, retired professor of economics, died Jan. 5.

    McConnell worked for 37 years at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. Distinguished for his research, teaching and service, McConnell may be best known for his landmark textbook, “Economics,” which remains in use today, now in its 21st edition.

    McConnell’s accomplishments include receiving the Distinguished Teaching Award at Nebraska in 1962, the James Lake Academic Freedom Award in 1991 and the Distinguished Faculty Award, which he received post-retirement in 1994. Cornell College, where he received a Bachelor of Arts, awarded him an honorary Doctor of Law degree in 1973 and a Distinguished Achievement Award in 1994.

    Biographical note

    Campbell R. McConnell earned his Ph.D. from the University of Iowa after receiving degrees from Cornell College and the University of Illinois. He taught at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln from 1953 until his retirement in 1990. He is also coauthor of Contemporary Labor Economics, Seventh edition, and Essentials of Economics, First edition (both The McGraw-Hill Companies), and has edited readers for the principles and labor economics courses. He is a recipient of both the University of Nebraska Distinguished Teaching Award and the James A. Lake Academic Freedom Award, and is past-president of the Midwest Economics Association. Professor McConnell was awarded an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from Cornell College in 1973 and received its Distinguished Achievement Award in 1994. Stanley L.
