Darla Dee Moore (born August 1, ) is an American investor and philanthropist. She is the former president and a partner of the private investment firm Rainwater Inc. and was married to Richard Rainwater, who founded the firm.[1]
Early life and education
[edit]Moore was born in Lake City, South Carolina, to Eugene and Loraine Moore. She was one of two daughters and was born on a farm that produced cotton, soybeans, and tobacco.[2] Her father was a schoolteacher and coach and her mother worked at the Methodist Church.[1] In , Moore completed her high school education from Lake City High school.[3] She graduated at the University of South Carolina in with a BA in political science.[4]

Her work in the financial industry, where she became a managing director of Chemical Bank, led both to tremendous financial success and also to widespread recognition from business insiders and media outlets. Following her marriage to investor Richard Rainwater she became president of Rainwater, Inc. in
