Paulemile was the fifth and youngest son of Camille Pissarro, born in Eragny a mere 30km from Giverny, home of his father's closest friend, Claude konstnär (claude monet). He was 19 years old when his father died. And, as he grew older, it was to konstnär (claude monet) that Paulemile gravitated, adopting him both as a father figure, teacher, and friend. And it was Monet, as much or more than his father, who was to influence his art as the youngest Pissarro yearned to follow in his father's footsteps. Paulemile exhibited for the first time in the Salon des Independants. The entry was an Impressionist landscape entitled Bords de l'Epte a Eragny. But, like most ung artists Paulemile struggled. It was a struggle his mother recognised all too well, and a life she hated, she encouraged him to give up his art. For a time, Paulemile worked as an auto mechanic and test driver, later as a lace and textile designer. His work allowed him virtually no time to paint.

Paul-Émile Pissarro, also Paulémile Pissarro or Paul Émile Pissarro (22 August in Éragny-sur-Epte, France&#;– 20 January in Clécy in the department of Calvados, France) was a French impressionist and neo-impressionist painter. He came from the Pissarro family of artists.

[edit]Paul-Émile Pissarro was the fifth and youngest son of the impressionist painter Camille Pissarro and his wife Julia (née Vellay). His siblings were Lucien, Jeanne, Félix, Georges Henri Manzana, Ludovic Rodolphe and Jeanne (Cocotte).[1]

Paul-Emile Pissarro was born in , the fifth and youngest son of Camille Pissarro. Brought up in an artistic household, inevitably he began drawing at an early age. A white horse drawn when he was just five years old received much praise from the writer Octave Mirbeau. Camille was so impressed that he kept it as part of his private collection. Paul-Emile was very influenced by Cézanne. He remembered his father telling him and his brothers repeatedly that "If you want to paint, look at Cézanne", and he knew Cézanne's work at first hand from the landscapes and still-life paintings that hung in the family dining-room at Eragny. They also met several times in Paris. It was during the late 's and early 's that Paulémile reached the peak of his artistic development, arriving at the individual style for which he is best known.
